Postoperative arrhythmias in tetralogy of Fallot.

چکیده
common congenital cyanotic heart disease, but it can now be treated with very good long term results. It has been known for many years, however, that patients with surgically treated TF are at risk of sudden cardiac death even many years later, while a large number of these patients exhibit postoperative arrhythmias. What is not entirely clear is the relation between ventricular arrhythmias detected during routine examinations (ECG, Holter) or induced during an electrophysiological study and the risk of sudden cardiac death. Furthermore, it has become apparent that these patients may suffer from supraventricular arrhythmias at least as often as ventricular arrhythmias. Those arrhythmias also require attention and treatment since they may cause significant morbidity and mortality.

Right ventricular Hemodynamic Alteration after Pulmonary Valve Replacement in Children with Congenital Heart Disease
Introduction: In patients who underwent surgery to repair Tetralogy of Fallot, right ventricular dilation from pulmonary regurgitation may be result in right ventricular failure, arrhythmias and cardiac arrest. Hence, pulmonary valve replacement may be necessary to reduce right ventricular volume overload. The aim of present study was to assess the effects of pulmonary valve replacement on rig...
متن کاملEarly post operative mortality of Total Correction of Tetralogy of Fallot
Introduction: Since 1954, after the first surgical repair of tetralogy of Fallot (TOF), several innovations have occurred in cardiac surgery, especially in children. One stage complete repair of TOF is currently possible even in infancy; however, complications such as hypoxemia, arrhythmia, cardiac dysfunction, sudden death, and valvular disorders may happen. In this study, we evaluated the res...
متن کاملUnnatural history of tetralogy of Fallot: prospective follow-up of 40 years after surgical correction.
BACKGROUND Prospective data on long-term survival and clinical outcome beyond 30 years after surgical correction of tetralogy of Fallot are nonexistent. METHODS AND RESULTS This longitudinal cohort study consists of the 144 patients with tetralogy of Fallot who underwent surgical repair at <15 years of age between 1968 and 1980 in our center. They are investigated every 10 years. Cumulative s...
متن کاملبررسی عملکرد بطنها با اکوکاردیوگرافی در نارسایی دریچه ریوی پس از جراحی تترالوژی فالوت
Background: Tetralogy of Fallot is the most common cyanotic congenital heart disease. The systolic and diastolic function in both ventricles is altered even after successful corrective surgery for this defect with a transannular patch. Pulmonary regurgitation, a common complication after this treatment, is usually well tolerated in childhood. The aim of this study was to assess the combined dia...
متن کاملSudden death after operative repair of tetralogy of Fallot.
The clinical and necropsy findings in 3 patients with tetralogy of Fallot who died suddenly after corrective operation are presented. Early postoperative electrocardiograms of 2 patients showed coexistent right bundle-branch block and left anterior hemiblock; one of these developed complete atrioventricular block and required a pacemaker. In the third a pacemaker. In the third patient, postoper...
متن کاملCONGENITAL HEART DISEASE Ventricular Arrhythmias in Postoperative Tetralogy of Fallot
Ventricular arrhythmias in patients after total surgical repair of tetralogy of Fallot have been associated with late sudden death. In this large multicenter retrospective study of 359 patients with postoperative tetralogy of Fallot, spontaneous ventricular premature complexes (VPCs) on 24. hour ambulatory electrocardiographic monitoring and laboratory-induced ventricular tachycardia (VT) by el...
